Metal detecting is a great hobby that involves treasure hunting, research, adventure, hiking, and long walks along the beach. The great thing about metal detecting is you never know what is hiding under the surface waiting for someone like you to come along and find it. Along with metal detecting is the sub-culture of gold prospecting. Gold prospecting with a Minelab GP3500 is a tremendously satisfying experience with the latest in metal detecting technology. But of course, the latest and greatest comes with a price. Is it worth it?
A Minelab GP3500 has the ability to take you on incredibly journeys of hunting for gold nuggets hidden under the earth in even the most extreme and remote places. You'll lose yourself in the amazing new metal detector from Minelab that brings both amazing experiences, great stories you can tell your grandchildren, and even be able to produce the treasures dug up with the ultra-sensitive metal detector.
The Minelab GP3500 is the newest in the GP line from Minelab. It is also destined to be one of the better gold nugget finders in production today. Minelab went above and beyond with the new GP3500 from the placement of the knobs and switches to make things more efficient to the ability to adjust the tracking mode with three available speeds.
Gold nuggets are not going to be safe anymore!

Minelab GP3500 In The Field
Prospecting for gold nuggets is made much easier because of the incredible advancements and upgrades the GP3500 has on it's predecessors.
To start with, the Minelab GP3500 packs an arsenal of technology while weighing only 5.2 pounds. It doesn't even feel that heavy due to the overall balance of the detector and can easily be carried through grass, forests, dry stream beds, rocky grounds, and up and down mountain sides.
The stock 11" Double D coil is extremely powerful and can find small nuggets at depths of more than a foot. The best thing about the strength of this nugget finder is that it provides an optimal balance for the smaller nuggets at greater depths all the while cutting right through highly mineralized soil and even hot rocks littering the gold fields. Anyone who's been nugget hunting before knows what a blessing this provides, especially those of us who don't enjoy our metal detectors sounding like arcade machines when even a hint of mineralized soil is near.
Along with the powerful coil, the Minelab GP3500 also carries with it some amazing features such as:
- Dual Volt Technology which increases depth and sensitivity
- All Metal Discrimination setting which helps you cut through iron rich areas
- Automatic Tune Control cuts out all external interference (including power lines, airplanes, nearby electronics, etc) with the touch of a button
- "Quick Track" Button with two settings for Tracking or Fixed
- Three Speed Tracking featuring Fast, Medium, and Slow
- Soil Condition Switch lets the user select between normal, salt, or sensitive
- Boost Amplifier helps you hear even the faintest of signals
- Individual Controls for volume, threshold, tone, and signal
Field testers who are jumping on the chance to check out the new Minelab GP3500 are raving about the controls, the sensitivity, the ability to block out externals such as power lines and airplanes, and the range of depth. The Minelab GP3500 should bring amazing enjoyment to anyone prospecting for gold and show a definite improvement on the amount of gold nuggets you find.
In the end, only you can decide if Minelab's GP3500 is right for you. I think it's right for everybody, but that's if price is no concern. My suggestion is to find someone who owns one of these detectors, possibly in a local detecting club or local dealer who's willing to let you try one out (or at least show you how to use it). A lot can be learned by spending an afternoon in the field with a new detector, and this is perhaps the best way to decide if all the benefits of the GP3500 are worth it to you. But don't blame me if you find several gold nuggets and have to come up with an explanation for how you ended up buying a new detector when you promised to only "try it out". =)
Happy prospecting!
